MIAMI, USA -- A Miami jury entered a verdict in favour of Miami seafood importer Perla Del Caribe against DYC Fishing Ltd owned by Frank Cox of Kingston, Jamaica for the sum of US$1,034,111.54, based on an exclusive agreement between both parties, said attorneys, Alfonso Perez and associate Miguel Lara.
Judge Marc Schumacher will enter a final judgment based on the jury verdict in the next couple of weeks after accumulated interest since 2002 is computed which attorneys Perez and Lara estimate will be a minimum of an additional $400,000.
The plaintiff, Perla Del Caribe, claimed DYC Fishing failed to distribute any of the profits made during the 2000-2001 conch season.The case had been in the Miami courts since 2002 where Cox had already lost appeals on two separate occasions. After seven years of litigating in the courts of Miami-Dade County, Florida, USA, Perla del Caribe finally received a jury verdict in its favour on, November 24,
